What are the first steps to start working with Heather?

To begin working together, you must complete a preliminary questionnaire so I can identify your reason for consulting me and so I can collect the necessary information to better understand your unique situation.

What happens during the first appointment?

During the first appointment, I will explain the therapeutic approach and we will go through your answers from the preliminary questionnaire.

The first appointment allows me to get to know you. Together, we will identify symptoms and briefly explore your personal and family history. We will analyze your significant relationships and your current life conditions.

This precious information allows me to pinpoint objectives and expectations.

After collecting that information, I will explain my understanding of your situation to create an efficient intervention plan. We can then decide to continue working together if we feel that we are a match.

You can decide to suspend or stop our meetings at any time. However, it is best to discuss it together so that we can end our meetings properly and say goodbye. 🙂

After how many sessions will I feel better?

In my experience, a minimum of investment in meetings is needed to get results. It is difficult to predict how long it will take since each person’s situation is different and people evolve at different speeds. Nonetheless, you can expect that 10 sessions will allow you to acquire some new skills. For longer-lasting change, it will take months. It is my hope, however, that you will benefit from each session.

At what frequency should we schedule meetings?

Ideally, 55-minute meetings should be held once a week. This allows us to get to know each other and to set up the process. As in any form of learning, one hour a week goes by quickly! We can review the frequency of our meetings at any time.

Can I interrupt or stop the therapy?

Yes, I trust that you know what is best for you. I suggest that we discuss ending the therapy together so we can evaluate your progress and say goodbye.

Are the sessions confidential?

Yes, the sessions are 100% confidential unless you are in danger, and even then, a certain confidentiality applies. We can discuss this together.

Is there availability or a waiting list?

These days, there are a lot of requests for psychotherapy. However, new availability open up regularly.
